Algiers - ‘Blood’
Maybe it’s the rattle-snake tambourine, or the totemic beat, or the screaming guitar or perhaps it’s the repetitive bluesy vocal chant, but there’s a definite voodoo quality to this; ‘Blood’, as is only fitting, lives under your skin.
It’s the latest track from experimental trio Algiers, a group from Atlanta, Georgia, self-described as a “gospel noise soul pulp response, slurping Francophilia, Black Power and Southern Gothic into a stew thicker than bourguignon in the Algierian sun. ”
The video pairs historic events from “the rotten hub of the Ol’ American South” with the song’s composing sentiment.
Blood 7” is out now on Double Phantom Records.
